ABOUT POSITION:
We are looking for an experienced Senior IT System Administrator to lead the management and optimization of our company’s IT infrastructure. As a senior member of the IT team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our systems while mentoring junior administrators and contributing to strategic IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system administration, with a focus on proactive system management, advanced troubleshooting, and the ability to design and implement infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Maintenance and Monitoring: Oversee the stability, performance, and security of all IT systems, including servers, networks, and applications. Lead proactive monitoring efforts and ensure quick resolution of system issues to minimize downtime.
- Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain complex server environments, network devices, and critical software applications. Lead projects involving new infrastructure deployment or system upgrades.
- Network Administration: Manage and troubleshoot advanced network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs. Ensure robust network security and efficient performance across all locations.
- Backup and Recovery: Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery systems, ensuring business continuity. Regularly test recovery processes and implement improvements to optimize data safety.
- Security Management: Lead the implementation and enforcement of advanced security protocols, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems. Conduct regular security audits and respond to incidents swiftly.
- User Support: Provide high-level technical support for critical issues, while overseeing the support provided by junior administrators. Serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems.
- Mentorship and Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior system administrators, sharing expertise and overseeing their development. Provide technical leadership on projects and day-to-day operations.
- System Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute comprehensive system upgrades and patches across the IT environment, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring timely support for critical hardware and software. Negotiate contracts and lead discussions on system improvements.
- IT Policy Development: Collaborate with management to develop and enforce company IT policies, ensuring best practices for security, performance, and compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a System Administrator, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Expertise in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies, and complex network environments.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
- Experience with enterprise-level backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Deep understanding of security protocols, network security, and advanced troubleshooting techniques for securing IT infrastructure.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly resolve complex system and network issues.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, VMware Certified Professional) are highly desirable.
